About Spalding Nix
Spalding Nix is an Atlanta native who majored in both Art History & Studio Art at the University of Virginia. After working at Jackson Fine Art for a year after college, Spalding attended the University of Georgia’s School of Law specializing in Intellectual Property & International Law.
During his undergraduate & law school summers, Spalding worked at The National Gallery of Art on their Design and Development team & in the General Counsel’s Office of The Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
After passing the Georgia Bar, Spalding worked for Sotheby’s in their Client Development group working closely with Sotheby’s Appraisal & Valuations Department.
In the fall of 2003, Spalding opened Spalding Nix Fine Art & Antiques. The gallery's purpose is to bring fine, yet affordable, 18th & 19th century paintings & important 18th century French furniture to the Southeast. In 2011, Spalding's wife, Aimee, joined the gallery as Gallery Director. Spalding and Aimee enjoy traveling to France regularly to purchase pieces for the gallery at auction.
As an Accredited Member of the American Society of Appraisers, Spalding Nix is available to assist you in the appraisal of your fine art, antiques & collectibles.
About Aimee Bowles Nix
Aimee Bowles Nix is a native of Martinsville, Virginia, who majored in Art History at the College of Charleston. During college she interned at the Gibbes Museum of Art sparking her interest in a professional career in the art world.
After traveling in Europe & living in Boston, Aimee moved to Atlanta in 2001. Aimee managed programs at Leadership Georgia for three years before becoming the Interim Director of the LaGrange Art Museum in LaGrange, Georgia. Aimee then accepted a position in development at the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University.
After five years at Emory, Aimee joined her husband, Spalding Nix, as Gallery Director of Spalding Nix Fine Art. Aimee Nix is available to assist you in finding the right work of art or French antique for your home or collection.
